'How the logo and meaning of Rolleston School has evolved.'
'We decided to focus on the Rolleston School logos. The school first opened in 1893 and we think the first logo was from the 1970s. We have all the other logos from this time up to now in 2025. At first, we didn't even realise the very first logo was actually a logo! It looked more like a cool drawing that showed different things connected to Rolleston, like a picture showing the school's story. But when we looked closer, we saw it was a logo.' - T
'If we were chosen to display the logos in a case, we would line them up from oldest to newest. We'd include important details like the year each logo was made, when it stopped being used, and if any items or symbols stayed the same across the logos.' - Sam
'We belive that there have been three logos, including the one we use today. Each one tells a different story, with pride and meaning. Our target audience would be people like students, ex-students, local families and anyone connected to Rolleston School.' - Sam
'The oldest logo is really detailed and shows the train tracks, the train station, and what we think is the Selwyn River - all very important parts of Selwyn's history. The second logo from around 2015 is simpler, with a bold tick and train tracks, showing the importance of Rolleston's railway along with the school's values of the time (called 'Express'), represented by colours. Then there's our current logo from 2023, which looks completely different! It does not have the tracks or the river anymore. Instead, it shows a Māori design of the Kaikomako tree that represents the flame of our school's passion, energy and culture.' - Tavia
'Each logo is special and meaningful in its own way, and together they show how our school has grown and changed over time'. - Sam
