DescriptionIn a treasured small black and white family photo from 1962-3, Mervyn and Mavis Barnett of Dunsandel are shown with their four children departing for Hanmer Springs in their car.
In the late 1960s, Mervyn and Mavis Barnett purchased the 1960 Russell Clark painting of Dunsandel known as 'Canterbury Township'.
In 2003, Mavis's son in law, teacher, cartoonist and artist David Clare, combined the photograph with the painting to produce this work, placing the Barnett family within the Dunsandel landscape. The painting takes pride of place in Mavis's home, and the original photo can be seen on the left, peeping out from behind the frame.
