TitlePeter Joyce and Annabel Menzies-Joyce from Tai Tapu Sculpture GardenDescriptionPeter Joyce and Annabel Menzies-Joyce founded Tai Tapu Sculpture Garden (TSG) as 'an evolving sculpture garden and native regeneration project'.

The couple started with a bare hectare of land, and since autumn 2010 have planted over 8000 native trees and shrubs. Stroll through the garden and you'll see sculpture works nestled among a podocarp forest of totara, matai, and kahikatea. The garden is also home to rare or threatened native plants of Canterbury.

Annabel is an practising artist, who completed a Diploma of Fine Arts at the University of Canterbury and frequently works in cast glass. Peter was a doctor in the Canterbury health system for nearly 40 years and is known as 'head gardener' at the garden.

The couple have been ardent supports of artists and contemporary sculpture practice. They have amassed a significant permanent collection and every year commission new work. They new commissions are unveiled at the opening of the Annual Autumn Exhibition, which occurs over the first three weekends in March. For the 2022 exhibition, there were more than 80 works on display.
