From the 1920's to the 1940s the house was owned by sheep breeder and wheat farmer Joseph Brooks, son of Thomas Brooks, after whom Brookside is named, and his wife Emily (nee Aldridge). Joseph and his wife had two daughters, Joyce Esmine (later Wilson) and Dorothy Irene (later Croy), and a son, Mr. T. E. M. Brooks, who was also a sheep breeder.
