TitleT. E. Pearson Memorial Reserve, DarfieldDescriptionThe T. E. Pearson Memorial Reserve is on the outskirts of Darfield, along Bangor Road, near Darfield High School. It was originally a tract of land that was a railway reserve, part of the Whitecliffs branch line which closed in 1962.
It lies adjacent to the former honey farm owned by apiarist T. E. (Tom) Pearson in Cridges Road. It bears his name to commemorate his civic contribution across a wide range of voluntary public duties, including fire-fighting, the Presbyterian Church, and the township committee.
On Arbour Day in 1980, members of the Beekeepers Association sponsored and planted a set of nectar and pollen-bearing plants in the Reserve.Date2024PhotographerSarah Davy
