NameT. W. Adams ArboretumDescriptionArboretum at Greendale, south east of Darfield, established by Alfred Albert Thomas William Adams (generally known as Thomas William Adams) (1842 - 1919). Adams was one of the first farmers to settle in Greendale, in March 1865. The first planting occurred in 1866, and by 1908 there were 800 species of trees and shrubs. The arboretum remains full of amazing specimen trees, some now considered endangered in their natural environments. The arboretum has the remains of the sod hut Adams built for his first wife Lucy.
In Spring it is bursting with bluebells and spring flowers, along with freshly budding fruit and nut trees. Date Established1866Geolocation[1]
